{"id":359,"date":"2025-04-01T18:38:59","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniquelogodesigns.com\/blog\/2025\/04\/01\/bucees-challenges-barcees-name-logo-lawsuit\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T18:38:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:38:59","slug":"bucees-challenges-barcees-name-logo-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uniquelogodesigns.com\/blog\/bucees-challenges-barcees-name-logo-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Buc-ee\u2019s Challenges Barc-ee\u2019s in Court Over Name and Logo Similarity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Texas-based Buc-ee\u2019s, a popular convenience store chain, has filed another lawsuit\u2014this time against a small Missouri business named \u201cBarc-ee\u2019s.\u201d The company claims the coffee and food shop\u2019s name and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniquelogodesigns.com\/\">logo<\/a> look too much like its own.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Buc-ee\u2019s, Barc-ee\u2019s is not a chain and doesn\u2019t sell gas. Still, Buc-ee\u2019s argues that the logo is too similar to its famous beaver trademark.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit states: \u201cBy using the Barc-ee\u2019s Logo\u2014a colorable imitation of the Buc-ee\u2019s Logo\u2014Defendants have violated Buc-ee\u2019s Trademarks. [Barc-ee\u2019s] actions regarding the use of Barc-ee\u2019s Logo have all been without authorization of Buc-ee\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Buc-ee\u2019s has taken legal action against businesses with similar branding. Earlier this year, the company sued a North Texas gas station chain, Super Fuels, for using a logo with a cartoon dog in a cape, which Buc-ee\u2019s said looked too much like its beaver.<\/p>\n<p>Similar copycat stores have also appeared in Mexico. In 2023, a viral video showed a shop called \u201cBuk-II\u2019s \u2013 Supermercado\u201d with a gopher mascot instead of a beaver.
